Cost of Rent vs Buy
I think most of us grow up thinking that it is less costly to rent a place rather than owning. The numbers have changed a lot from the "old days". Check out this video.
Buy vs Rent
As much as I encourage you to buy and invest in yourself, I understand that sometimes that is not the right action at the present time. The choice is personal. I can only point out the advantages and answer any related questions that you may have.

To Rent or To Buy
Would Now Be a Good Time to Rent?
HOLY SMOKES – now is NOT a good time to rent. Click on the link above and have a look at the attached report – especially the rent graph from 1988 forward. Constant up!
Just a thought – buy your home today and look at your payment in 5 years. Or rent from someone and look at your payment in 5 years. Try is at 10, 20 or 30 years and see which one went up how high.
Oh, one more thing – if you got to 30 years your mortgage payments stop. Uhmm – chances are the landlord will still be expecting next month’s rent.
80% of Renters Believe In Their American Dream
Don’t get me wrong – sometimes renting makes sense. Perhaps there is a hidden reason, a short term or even a special goal. If you are a regular follower, you know that I am renting right now. However, the majority of renters want to live the dream. Homeownership is the American Dream.
Sometimes folks hold back because of incorrect information or fear that they cannot do it. If you really want to own – call me – let’s talk about it. There is no shame in trying. Who knows, you might get to live the dream.
Some Reasons Spring is a Great Time to Buy a Home
Spring! What a great time of year. New colors, fresh air, sunshine – the beginning of something new. It is also a great time to move forward on the road to homeownership or a move up – or, if it is time, a move to downsize. Whatever is right for you at this time in your life – go for it!
If you are buying the first time or moving up – spring is good as prices are going up! Spring is good as interest rates are forecasted to move up this year. So, you want to beat the rush and the added cost? Now is good.
The Interest Cost of Waiting
Why move forward now? Have a look at the chart and click on the above link for more comments. Waiting is going to cost money. The playing field is changing. Get a jump on it today.
What You Need to Know About The Mortgage Process
How complicated is it to get a mortgage? It is not that bad at all. You work with a professional who understands and can explain all those forms. You will get to sign your name a few times – alright, more than a few times – but not bad considering you sign your name and you get a house!
Just remember – stick to your budget and consult the pros. There is absolutely no need to spend more than you need to or more than you are able. Start with the pros BEFORE you shop for a house. Then you will know what price range to look for. It is a better way to go!

The UNthinkable Happened - RENTING an Apartment!
Well, for those of you who are regulars here, you know my preaching about ownership vs renting - and all the reasons why! Last month I became an apartment renter. Yeap -for real. This is the first time I am renting an apartment since ____ (a long time ago - I think dinosaurs might have been running around outside). The house went faster than expected and I needed somewhere to live. So, we will try apartment living and report on it during the coming year. It is a different lifestyle and critics will no longer be able to say I have not done it. So, stay tuned for more posts right here at the San Antonio Real Estate Blog.
Rental Trap
Careful…Don’t Get Caught in the Rental Trap! Have you heard - it is cheaper to buy then to rent! In some markets that is very true. Seriously though folks - if you pay rent - especially higher rent - it becomes harder to save to get a home of your own. The higher the rent, which often increases annually, the harder it is to have a savings program. That is why we recommend buying a home even if it is with little money down. And when you buy go for a fixed rate mortgage to lock in your mortgage payment. Of course, there will be modest increases for property tax or insurance, but the majority of your payment is a fixed amount toward what you borrowed. Rents will not likely stay fixed! For more information, read today's article and call if I can better help you mover into a home of your own
Cost of Renting
Do You Know the Real Cost of Renting vs. Buying? [INFOGRAPHIC] The numbers may SHOCK you! Historically, what was a close call might have tipped in favor of renting but that is no longer true - especially in San Antonio. Ownership has its advantages for many, many reasons. If you review posts throughout this blog we often discuss those reasons. But that discussion is best in person. If you are ready to go for it and join the ranks of American Home Owners - CALL me (or send me an email and I'll call you). Checkout today's article
Winter Rerun
Sure, we have shared this before, but it is important and some of you may have not seen it the last two times:-) Whether You Rent or Buy: Either Way You’re Paying a Mortgage. At the end of 30 years you could have a paid up mortgage and a great investment or you could have a stack of receipts and a payment due for next months rent. Why not avoid rent and enjoy a 30 year fixed rate payment? It is fixed with the exception of property tax and insurance but renters insurance will go up too! Your living cost can be an expense - or an investment. Your landlord chose investment. You are making the payments. If something does go wrong along the way, you can sell the home. You cannot sell the rent receipts. That is a cold hard reality. Folks, owning your own home is a way to increase your wealth. Check this out

One certain reason to answer "why buy"
Sometimes I think I sounds like a broken record. But somethings never change. Pay 30 years of rent - and still owe next month. Pay 30 years on a mortgage - and the outcome is different. Which do you prefer
