Starting the Search for a Home

Buying a first home or a new home can be a lot of fun. It can be an adventure. But, it can also cause stress. In today's market, with a shortage of available homes for sale - the search is also very competitive. So you need a plan (and a really good real estate agent)!

Here are the basics - with expanded explanation in today's report):
  1. Get Pre-Approved for a Mortgage Before You Start Your Search
  2. Know the Difference Between Your ‘Must-Haves’ and ‘Would-Like-To-Haves’
  3. Research and Choose a Neighborhood You Want to Live In
  4. Pick a House Style You Love and Stick to It
  5. Document Your Home Visits

Why Get Pre-Approved First

For one, knowing how much you are pre-approved for gives you a level of confidence in making an offer on a home in that you are qualified to make that offer. And, it gives the seller a higher level of confidence in that you should be able to actually close the deal.

Why shop and look at homes and risk disappointment if you find one you like and cannot get a sufficient mortgage to make the purchase? If you are pre-approved, you shop with confidence and when you find the right home - you can go for it. The video is short - the information is important - and the reasons for getting pre-qualified are right on the money.

And now, if you are ready to shop, this is a good place: https://www.sanantonio.homes/

Dragon Slayer

Regular readers know I would never hurt an animal but this dragon is a mythical creature that we shall slay with words!

Seriously folks, there are a lot of myths floating around out there keeping folks from taking that first step in buying a home. I bought my first in my early 20's - almost no money down and definitely a fixer upper - a real fixer upper. My parents were renters and school did not offer shop courses - so I bought a book (today, you have the internet and videos!).

Checkout today's report for details - and a larger visual than what you see here. Then don't let another summer go by without owning your own home. By the way, the first one I bought we sold 13 years later for a little more than 2 1/2 times what we paid for it. Never a guaranty that anyone will get results like that - but it can happen. Why not to you?

The Home Buying Process Explained

Home buying is not terribly complicated if the right folks are on your team. Working with a licensed real estate professional and mortgage loan officer gets it done in the shortest possible time. That is what they do on a regular basis! Let them help you. We can do that!

What If I Wait

The answer is quite simple. It is going to cost you!

Have a look at today's report for more details but consider home prices will go up, interest rates likely will too. You will be paying another year of rent - helping your landlord pay their expenses or mortgage - and instead of a paid off home 30 years from now, it will be 31 years from now (or however many years you take to pay off your home). Ready to buy now?

Taking That First Step To Buy A Home

Before you start house hunting, there is one thing to do. Like many things in life, that "first step" is very important!
